Fastspot Promotes Mobile and iPhone Accessibility with Launch of Alex Cooper Auctioneers’ Real Estate Sites
When Fastspot launched Alex Cooper Auctioneers’ newly-updated Real Estate Website (http://realestate.alexcooper.com/) in March 2008, the premiere interactive agency’s Principal and Creative Director, Tracey Halvorsen, knew there was more to the site than a simple Web-based experience. “People don’t just view these properties from their homes and offices; they view them out in the world,” she explains. In that light, Fastspot went on to develop two alternatives to the site – a mobile site and an iPhone site – to perpetuate ease of use and accessibility for users on-the-go.
Mobile sites are formatted for display on a mobile devices such as cell phones, PDAs, and other portable gadgets. These sites are optimized so as to display Web content most effectively for small screens on portable devices; they must be small and efficient to accommodate the low memory capacity and low-bandwidth of wireless handheld devices.
The Alex Cooper Auctioneers Real Estate site (http://realestate.alexcooper.com/mobile/) adheres to these standards. The site’s content eliminates extraneous navigation on the page, which is nearly inaccessible for mobile devices as they often use a simple up and down function for scrolling rather than a mouse-like pointer, and allows for a quicker page load time.
Fastspot chose to develop an iPhone-specific site (http://realestate.alexcooper.com/iphone/) for Alex Cooper because of the phone’s popularity and its specialized display, which allows for landscape-view scrolling of Web content. The iPhone site features the same bright graphics of the standard site optimized for the iPhone’s screen size and alternate horizontal orientation. Fastspot created a sleek, iPhone-inspired navigation that “flips” to the next item with a slide or tap of a finger, mimicking the iPhone user’s typical interaction with the device.
“We are the only company in the industry offering live cancellations, let alone having a mobile accessible Website that allows users to get live updates on the go. Fastspot has given Alex Cooper the tools to continue our industry leadership and keep our business processes on the cutting edge of what is available,” noted Matthew Cooper of Alex Cooper Auctioneers.
