Shooters Post & Transfer Takes Delivery Of New Grass Valley Spirit 2K Telecine

Philadelphia, PA – Shooters Post & Transfer has purchased a new Grass Valley™ Spirit 2K Telecine system from Thomson to support its growing HD TV commercial and feature film post production business.  The Spirit 2K system is used extensively by the company’s new film finishing and visual effects division, known as DIVE, and is an integral part of Shooters’ preparation as it moves to an all-data workflow.

The new Spirit 2K is replacing Shooters’ existing Spirit One system that had been the state-of-the-art telecine for nearly a decade.  What you see from the new Spirit 2K markedly improved pictures especially in HD.  The Spirit 2k’s native RGB scanning and processing provides superb color separation, excellent grain definition, and overall texture reproduction that results in SD and HD video images at an unsurpassed level of quality.
 
Due to its real-time scanning capabilities, the new Grass Valley Spirit 2K system allows DIVE and Shooters VFX artists, editors and colorists to work in 2K resolution much better and faster than ever before.  In addition, the company’s workflow for independent features working in HD 4:4:4 colorspace is now greatly improved because of the Spirit 2K’s ability to operate in that mode.

“We had great results with our classic Spirit system but feel the picture quality of the Spirit 2K is so much better,” said Ray Carballada, Chief Operating Officer.  “We are rapidly moving to an all-data work flow and the Spirit 2K system will support us both now and into the future.”

Carballada said they also like the Spirit 2K’s ability to be easily upgraded to 4K processing when the need arises. “It’s the same reason we bought an HD and data capable classic Spirit system 10 years ago.  We want to be ready for the market, not chasing it.”
